When she entered the apartment for the last time—or for what felt like the last
time—she saw a grapefruit on the front hall table.
It seemed to have been put there to keep down a piece of sheet music, and
before she announced her arrival, she devoured it.
Graham Foust is the author of five books of poems, including To Anacreon in Heaven and Other Poems, a finalist for the 2014 Believer Poetry Award. With Samuel Frederick, he has translated three books by the late German poet Ernst Meister: In Time’s Rift (Wave Books, 2012), Wallless Space (Wave Books, 2014), and Of Entirety Say the Sentence (Wave Books, forthcoming).
