On August 25th, one of Guernica’s featured writers, Heidi Cullen, was the guest on the Colbert Report, where she discussed her book The Weather of the Future: Heat Waves, Extreme Storms, and Other Scenes from a Climate-Changed Planet and was asked to “refrighten” Colbert about climate change. An excerpt from The Weather of the Future appeared in Guernica’s August 1st issue. A senior research scientist with Climate Central, Cullen writes about the history of climate change research and discusses how the predictions of scientists a hundred years ago are coming true at an alarmingly fast rate.
